I just received an email from a friend:

知道你是个爱猫之人，看了你的网站知道其实有许多人都很爱猫。

我姐姐家里是有养猫的，她看楼下的猫很可怜，就抱回家养。

让人不能相信的是，她一共养了8只，是8 只哦！而且全部是很大只的猫（都结扎了）。

在组屋里养了8只猫，家里有2个小孩，很多人都劝她遗弃它们，但她一直坚持。

最近她们家决定要搬家了，这些猫是肯定不能继续养下去了，她想看看谁能帮忙， 领养这些宝贝，或者是有哪些地方是可以收容这些猫的（她可以付费）

someone complained about the stray cats downstairs

last night, a couple complained to me while i was feeding the stray cats downstairs.

at first, the husband asked is it me who left the cat food and water behind which polluted the environment. (my answer is 'NO'). then he continued to complain about the noise and dirtiness that the cats have created.

he said that he is a taxi driver who changed from night shift to day shift a few months ago who needs at least 7 hours of sleeping as his job is VERY DANGEROUS which needs lots of concentration. however, he claimed that he always wakes up by the cat fights which cause him cannot get back to sleep anymore till morning...

the man also complained about a cat feeder who feeds the cats around midnight. whenever the old lady comes, the cats always gather together and create lots of noises. the couple live one floor above me, if they can hear the noise during midnight, how come i never hear?

he wants me to stop feeding the cats, he suggested i can either bring the cats home as pets or bring them to other place to feed. the man's wife also kept persuading me whatever he said to me. (if i can bring cats home, i will definitely do it! sigh...)

the man threatened that if the cats continue to make noise and wakes him up, he will complain to HDB. i explained to him the cats that i feed are all sterilized, so they will not reproduce and cause lesser problems.

i told the couple that if they make the complaint, more than 20 cats in the estate will be put to sleep (the man is aware of it!).

no matter how i explained, the couple just refused to listen. after the couple complained about the same issue over and over again for 30 minutes, they said that they need to go for their dinner and left.

from the way the couple talked, they dislike cats very much.

i do not believe whatever the couple said as i sleep very late for these few months to rush for my paintings.

true, there are cat fights at night but only once in a blue moon and does not last long each time. noises at night: a few vans arrive from 3am to 5am to deliver goods to the supermarket at ground floor (daily), the noise make by birds sleeping on the trees when get frighten at different timing (daily)...

if the man is not waken by these noises, he just hates cats and wants all of them to vanish.

i believe that all creatures have the rights to live, if the cats get murdered, it is truly an unfair world.

This blog is created for Penny, a kind and dedicated fosterer of many cats around Yishun. Like many other fosterers we know, she feeds and takes care of the welfare of the cats around her area (even cats at some other areas if need be).

But her job as a fosterer doesn’t only end there. She even brings the sick home, gives them a shelter, provides them with the medical attention they need, and most importantly, gives these sick cats a chance to live. However, with this continuous medical bills coming in for the past three and a half years, her funds are running really low now.

Some of these sick cats are the ones you see on the banner and in the gallery. If it wasn’t for Penny’s dedication and compassion, pictures of these once-sick-cats appearing so healthy and lively would never make it to this blog.

'Cats Of The World III' Photo Exhibtion

I am so happy that my photo is selected for this coming exhibition in July 2009 (09.07.09-28.07.09).

LPN Cats DAY 09

On 6, 7, 13 and 14 June 09, The LPN Art School will be holding the 2nd The LPN Cats Day 09. Last year our Cats Day 08 was a great success, a few cats was adopted during the adoption drive and all the groups participating had manage to raise the fund they needed. Therefore, this year we decided to hold our 2nd LPN Cats Day 09 in the coming June school holiday. The objective for the event is mainly to create public awareness for the community cats and promoting the right attitude towards the animals.

This round, Pawpledge, Metta Cattery, Cat Welfare Society and some individual cat foster and volunteers will also be at the event to sell some of the cats related collection items and T Shirt for fundraising for the sterilization of the community cats, medication fee for the community cats, as well as the for the operation cost of the cattery and shelter. 

In addition, local DIY Singer/Song Writer Yet Dun Hong will also support the event through a performance session on the 14 June 09, 2.30-3.30pm. During the Cat Day, Yet will be contributing $5 to Cat Welfare Society for every sales of his CD album. Other than Yet, Veronkya Lau, the author of the book “Smalley in the Hedge”, a story about community cats in Singapore, will also have 4 sessions of sharing and story telling session for children about community cats and her book. In addition, The LPN Art School also organize 4 sessions of Cat drawing contest, Cat craft contest and cat mask making contest during the event for children age 5 – 12 yrs old.

由于第一届LPN猫日08取得相当大的回响， 因此于6月6／7／13／14日, The LPN美术学校将再次主办第二届LPN猫日。 在第一届的猫日， 多只流浪猫也在当天找到“家”，多个流浪猫义务团体也在那两天为猫儿筹到相当令人鼓舞的款项。 除了筹款，及领养活动外， 猫日的主要目的是要提高公众人士对流浪猫的正确意识，并提高孩子们对流浪猫的爱心。 

这次 Pawpledge, Metta Cattery 及Cat Welfare Society也将再次参与这次的活动。他们将在猫日的活动上售卖他们各自团体的物品以为流浪猫的节育费用，医药费用及收容所的经费等筹款。此外，他们也将带一些流浪猫到会场让有兴趣领养猫咪的公众领养，并鼓励公众领养宠物而非购买宠物。

配合这次的活动，本地音乐人叶敦鸿也将在6月14日下午两点三十分到三点三十分到现场演唱以支持提高公众对流浪猫的意识与爱心。为了支持猫日， 叶敦鸿也将在活动上售卖他的首张个人专辑， 每售出一张专辑， 他将5元捐入Cat Welfare Society的节育流浪猫的款项。专辑将从6月6日至14日在The LPN美术学校售卖。

除了叶敦鸿， Veronkya Lau,《 Smalley in the Hedge》 一本关于本地流浪猫的绘本的作者， 也将到现场为小朋友们讲故事，并分享有关她的书。此外， 在现场The LPN美术学校也将举办4场以猫儿为主题的现场绘画比赛，猫咪脸谱设计比赛， 猫咪美工比赛等。欢迎5岁至12岁的孩子报名参加，每场比赛限定20位参赛者，所以敬请预先报名。有兴趣报名者可拨电6238 0317报名。

Jeannie Neo says: A stray (community) cat (affectionately known as ‘Blackie’) that I’ve been feeding has been badly injured. She has a deep gash in her tummy and her right leg is fractured badly. Her entire body is also covered with scratches and open wounds. She could have been hit by a car and also involved in a terrible cat fight.

When we went to see her at the Animal Clinic at Clementi yesterday, she was pretty heavily drugged and could barely open her eyes. However, she could still recognize us and tried to walk towards me but I could tell she was in tremendous pain. She’s also on an IV drip as she’s very dehydrated.

The vet said that she will definitely need an operation and could possibly have her leg amputated. Meanwhile, she’s fighting an infection that could possibly cost her life.

I am doing my best to save her life and I hope that you can help in the form of donations, any amount big or small will be very much appreciated.

Her stay at the vet will cost up to $500+, operation about $1000+ and amputation about $600.

Hi all! I'm the friend Jeannie's helping! Very touched with responses and extremely appreciative.

Blackie is still at the Animal Clinic at Clementi and we are waiting to meet the orthopedic surgeon who will advise if its ok to operate on her leg and save it. Meanwhile, the vet's cleaning its wounds everyday and its still on an IV drip.
